Epson medium format film holder for V700/V750/V800/V850/4990
One such film holder is already included in the scope of delivery of the Epson Perfection V700 Photo and V750 Pro. With a second holder you can load it while the other is still in the scanner. This saves time and makes scanning more efficient and comfortable.
This film holder can also be used with the Epson Perfection V800 Photo and the Epson Perfection V850 Pro. While the original film holders of these scanners have a height adjustment and a glass cover and can be loaded only with 1 film strip of maximum 20cm length, this film holder does neither have a glass cover nor a height adjustment and can be loaded with 2 film strips of maximum 20cm length. You can avoid disturbing Newton rings when scanning without glass.
As an alternative there is the height adjustable Epson medium format film holder with glass.
When using this film holder with the Epson Perfection V800 Photo or the Perfection V850 Pro you have to set the scanning frames manually within the EpsonScan software, since the automatic frame recognition (miniature preview) works only for 1 film strip. In SilverFast you can use the function "find frames" with "all frames" or "slide 6x4.5cm" or "slide 6x6cm" or "slide 6x7cm", however, you have to adjust the frame order. Within SilverFast you can also set the scanning frames manually.

During the period of use more and more dust and dirt sets on the contact surface and in the corners of a film holder. Consequently dust gets on the film material and into the scanner. Hence the film holder should be cleaned again and again. The easiest way is simply brushing the film holder with an anti static brush, which not only removes the dust but also removes electric charges. Discharging is important because electric charge adducts dust as is generally known. Kinetronics anti static brushes are available in different sizes.

When working with film strips it often happens that you accidentally touch the emulsion side of the film. The damage often is irreparable. You can avoid damages to the film material and comfortably insert film strips into the scanner or film holder by wearing fine cotton gloves.

Anti-dust spray is used to clean film material - no matter if it's mounted slides or film strips - by removing dust and fluffs with a flimsy current of air without touching the film material at all. There is no better, more comfortable and more efficient way to clean your film material. Additionally anti dust spray is suitable to clean the scanner from dust thus avoiding disturbancies in the scans.

For working with single negatives or positives or film strips we highly recommend using tweezers with flat shovels, because otherwise you run the risk of touching and damaging the film. Additionally, with such tweezers you easily take out film strips from archive sheets or photo bags.
